Slides 01:21
I’m sorry for what I don’t know I’m just repeating habits old I can’t remember how I’m good But how I am slides from my mind When you get home When you get home When you get home When you get home When you get home
2.
Down low I glide through all waves I’ve found outlines of shadows In my loneliness, I dug a way out And you come cut from The ones who show you How, How, How, How Down low I slide through errors I’m put by you, tornado There’s no feeling when I’m sleeping And I am nothing more than the ones who showed me How, How, How, How I want the coming down (So I can finally breathe) I want the coming down (So I can finally breathe) I want the coming down (So I can finally breathe) I want the coming down (So I can finally breathe) There’s a place I go to level with myself In a tower overlooking nothing else I will hide here when the trees they hollow out I never knew love until I saw you for myself Has it asked you in the middle of the night? Has it shaken all the stars from out’ your sky? I supposed you’d be the author of your life But reading it now I wish I’d stopped once in a while I never knew love until I saw you for myself
3.
Yellow light is creaking open Drowning out the voices on the morning news And all i’ve felt hits me at once Remembered all i lost when i was in my youth Take me again, for once I’m here Believing if you hold me close the end will to Glancing twins, the fiery mess I don’t feel lost, I’m just not found I figured out what I need Yeah, I’ve figured out what I need Mesmerised and softly spoken Falling on the way back up to where I perch You were so tough to follow Keeping it alive before I waste your time Hold my drink and drain the swamp ‘cause bureaucrats are hiding in your mother’s soup Take your time but don’t you worry I won’t be another lie you’ve told to you I figured out what I need Yeah, I’ve figured out what I need I figured out what I need Yeah, I’ve figured out what I need
4.
Man 03:44
Will you be the same When I’ve lost my mind? When nothing makes no sense And I crawl out of sight I can’t begin to cry Gotta hold my head up straight Act like a fucking man What’s a fucking man? I feel it in my gut Every single day Even when it’s Eight- Hundred Million years away I can’t begin to cry I gotta pull my shoulders back Act like a fucking man What’s a fucking man? I’ve got lines on these hands that I can’t read All the tales I’ve been told I can’t believe I just want to do right, now the right’s gone wrong So tell me what is a man and where does he belong? Would I be the same? Could we just pretend? Never knew I’m not meant to feel this way I can’t begin to cry I gotta hold my head up straight Act like a fucking man What’s a fucking man? What’s a fucking man? What’s a fucking man?
5.
Taking the angles away from the square Prying my fingers from under your hair Every time I’m reminded I haven’t forgot It’s beside me each day that I pick at the clot So i’ll be patient Yes I’ll be patient I don’t think that I have the patience To chase you around Until you’re found Shooting the angels from out of the sky Holding your sentences until you lie Oh the symmetry cannot deny who we are But will you be patient? Will you be patient? I’m hoping that you can be patient To chase me around until I’m found To chase me around until I’m found
6.
What do I got That makes me so perfect? What do I got To make this so rare? Cause I’ve looked in the mirror And i’ve stared through my eyes Ain’t no good information Behind what those lies, they tell you Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love What did I do To let my hand hold yours? When did I stop Making excuses? Cause have you looked in the mirror? Have you seen in your eyes? Ain’t no bad information They’re always only lies Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love I said it all, you said it back Giving it all away You don’t know what you got left I said it all, you said it back Giving it all away You don’t know what you got left Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love Love you don’t know what you love

Captive 04:09
I’ll let go pretending It’s something I can do Walking on the ocean Right in front of you Will you throw your armour Place it on my chest It’s alright, you’re alright It’s not everyday from here It’s alright, you’re alright You don’t have to be a captive in your head Maybe I’ll remember all that I forget How’d I get your number? Hiding all I’m not Would you shoot me like the movies? See you when the credits roll It’s alright, you’re alright It’s not everyday from here It’s alright, you’re alright You don’t have to be a captive in your head You turn around To the one who’s staring back at you inside Do you see what I see? It’s alright, you’re alright It’s not everyday from here It’s alright, you’re alright You don’t have to be a captive in your head

Over It 05:28
Where do all these pieces go, now that I am separate? I missed the part where I got old Thought I’d have it figured out Even now I find it hard To do my bit I’m not over it I’m not over it What do all these people know That I haven’t figured myself I don’t know where i will go But take me in with open arms Cause’ even in your arms I’m still wrapped in my shit I’m not over it I’m not over it I’m not over it I’m not over it
9.
Borrowed 03:22
Say what you want But don’t use a word for it loses its meaning When you are speaking Don’t turn around Don’t take it back Cause’ the truths at your heels Run from the feeling You borrowed my time, I borrowed yours We didn’t know how fast it goes You borrowed my time, I borrowed yours We didn’t know how fast it goes Flat on my side Pillow between us Stoned out of our minds I text you right next to you Took me ten years To see you’re not here And you’re not coming back I feel I’m right next to you You borrowed my time, I borrowed yours We didn’t know how fast it goes You borrowed my time, I borrowed yours We didn’t know how fast it goes
10.
M.O. 03:47
Whats your mo? I’ve never seen this grace before Did you trick me? With a magic I don’t know Can you teach me So I can learn to love myself Can you reach me In the middle of the flame? I lost my shadow Waiting for the sun I’ve broken my crown Just keep walking till I’m done What’s your design? Clearly I don’t have a clue Made in time Or was it always up to? Can you wake me? I’m scared how quickly I’m astray Maybe next year, It won’t have to be this way I lost my shadow Waiting for the sun I’ve broken my crown Just keep walking till I’m done I hear footsteps up above But I fear that no one lives here I lost my shadow Waiting for the sun I’ve broken my crown Just keep walking till I’m done Just keep walking till I’m done.

about

Original Cast Recording is the second album from Melbourne artist Braille Face.

The album is deeply personal, with songs tackling mental health, medication, sexuality and masculinity, while exploring the various ways in which mental health and creativity intersect and interact - for better or for worse.

Written and produced over a handful of years in studios and spaces across Melbourne, New York, Oslo & Japan, the album is a document of a turbulent but ultimately hopeful period in Braille Face’s ongoing relationship with his own mental health.

“The album title comes from something my mother told me when I was about 15 years old. I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety and in order to soothe me onto the idea of medication, she said, “if you break your leg, you put it in a cast. This is the same thing.”

This narrative stuck and came to help define who I have been for the better part of 15 years - the part my mother left out was the part where you have to eventually take off this cast once it’s healed.” - Jordan White / Braille Face
